For thousands of years, there has been a war on terrorism. The United States government will not negotiate with terrorists; however, radical and extreme Muslims from all over have continued to behead, torture and bomb American civilians and military alike.

Donald Trump, who is currently seeking the nomination of the Republican Party for the Presidency in 2016, has called for a “total and complete shutdown [temporarily] of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” according to a written campaign statement. Is he wrong?

Given the recent terrorist slaughtering by jihadists and ISIS, Islamic extremists have been to blame (and proudly acknowledge) for some of the largest attacks on American soil since 9/11, all in the name of religion.

Islamic extremists have a problem with freedom of religion. America was born on religious freedom, a sanctuary for those who want to practice their beliefs without persecution. According to the first amendment of the United States Constitution, any person has that right given that they’re a citizen. Some believe that our government is closely watching the Mosques all over the nation.

In all fairness, not all Muslims are extremists and murderers. Who’s right is it to say others cannot travel to this country based on where they were born and what religion they follow?

That being said, ISIS is a large and growing threat, not just to America but to anyone who doesn’t believe what they do. They are a gang, a mob, a well financed group of people willing to die for those beliefs. They claim their religion is Muslim, because they come from an Islamic State.

Maybe it would be best for our government to do a temporary ban of anyone trying to fly into America from anywhere holding claims to be of the Muslim religion. Would it stop the shootings? Would it stop the bombings? Would it stop the terror?

Just recently, President Obama visited a Mosque in Baltimore. This particular Mosque is known for having extremist ties. While this could’ve been a smart move to make some peace and show the Muslim community that we do not have to be at odds, it could also backfire as the extremists who attend this particular place of worship could consider it a weakness or even a backing to continue their crusade. Time will tell.

Would you feel safer if our government put this Muslim ban into effect?
