ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Seventy business owners and entrepreneurs from across the state sharpened their proposal writing skills today at the Technical Training Classroom hosted by the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs in Crownsville. This marks the first session of the program’s expanded curriculum.

The Technical Training Classroom was launched in 2017 with a focus on providing insight into navigating Maryland’s detailed procurement processes. After feedback from participants, the curriculum was expanded to include a broader range of topics relevant to small business owners operating in the private sector, as well as the public sector.

“Small business owners wear multiple hats. Improving operational efficiencies will make them more competitive,” said Jimmy Rhee, special secretary of the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs. “We are bringing in small business owners to share their expertise in areas of bookkeeping, bidding, bonding, marketing, and proposal writing.”

The Technical Training Classroom is a small group format of 50-75 “students.” Sessions are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Governor’s Coordinating Offices located at 100 Community Place in Crownsville. Registration is free, but seating is limited. Visit goMDsmallbiz.maryland.gov to view the full 2018 Technical Training Classroom schedule.
