PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Sneade’s Ace Home Center, Inc., a cornerstone of Southern Maryland’s retail landscape, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. From its humble beginnings in 1975 as a small hardware store in North Beach, the family-owned business has expanded into a trusted regional chain with four locations and a reputation for exceptional service and community involvement.

Founded by Dave and Lynne Sneade, the company has grown steadily over the decades. In 1989, they acquired the former Owings Lumber Company, transforming it into a 14,000-square-foot hardware and lumber supply store. The expansion continued with the purchase of the Solomons Home Center in 1996, which was later relocated to a new 14,000-square-foot facility in Lusby in 2002. In 2020, Sneade’s further extended its reach by opening stores in Leonardtown and Charlotte Hall.

What sets Sneade’s apart is its commitment to customer service and a comprehensive product range. The stores offer everything from tools and paint to grills, gifts, and garden supplies. Notably, the Owings and Lusby locations feature covered drive-thru lumberyards, a rarity among independently owned Ace Hardware stores.

Beyond retail, Sneade’s is deeply embedded in the community. The company supports numerous local initiatives, including fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network, Toys for Tots, and Farming 4 Hunger. They also host regular events like monthly popcorn demos and seasonal promotions, fostering a sense of community among customers and staff.

As Sneade’s Ace Home Center celebrates this milestone, it continues to embody the values that have sustained it for half a century: quality products, knowledgeable staff, and unwavering community support.
