Budds Creek, MD- On what felt like an early autumn weekend in Southern Maryland, the Speed Unlimited ET Series Blowout weekend descended upon Maryland International Raceway(MDIR). A few hundred racers from the region competed for top prizes in three classes- Junior Dragster( $500), Top ET( $5000), and Modified ET( $2000). This would be one for the last few passes most drivers would make before trying to qualify for the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Series at MDOR and the IHRA World Finals in Memphis, TN in October.
Later that evening, MDIR held a Racer Appreciation cookout at Hot Rodz Cafe consisting of chicken skewers, BBQ, beans, cole slaw and other items. And to add a little more fun to it, the track held a “Pit Bike” race with the winner taking home $500.
The Speed Unlimited Series will be back for Midnight Madness on Friday, September 1, 2017, and Saturday, September 2, 2017, for the Speed Unlimited ET Series | Team Finals Wild Card Race.
