On April 6, the victim left his vehicle, 2001 Ford Explorer Sports Trac, Florida registration, at Avis Rental Car in Lexington Park.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. April 11, the victim returned to Avis Rental Car to pick up his vehicle. The vehicle was missing. The staff of Avis Rental Car had not moved his vehicle and the vehicle’s whereabouts was unknown. The victim reported the vehicle stolen.
St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Deputy James Maguire was in the area of Brighton Ave in Lexington Park, shortly after when he observed the stolen vehicle pass by.
The vehicle stopped in the area of Cambridge Avenue in Lexington Park and the driver exited the vehicle and ran. Deputy Maguire was able to clearly see the driver.
A neighborhood canvas of the area was conducted. During the neighborhood canvas Deputy Maguire observed the suspect exit a residence on Cambridge.
The suspect was identified as Robert Damon Proctor, 18 of Lexington Park, Robert Proctor was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and theft over $500.
