Vera’s White Sands in Lusby will host its third Hawaiian Tropic contest on Sunday, July 20, at 2 p.m.
The second contest was held June 21. Meagan, Amber and Amber Lynn took the first-, second and third- place titles, winning the opportunity to participate in the national Hawaiian Tropic contest later in the year. Contestants at the national level vie for modeling contracts and the chance to tour the country promoting Hawaiian Tropic tanning and skin care products.
The bar and restaurant changed hands in 2006. Vera Freeman, who had owned and operated the establishment for 50 years, sold to Steve Stanley, who she befriended over weekly martinis at the bar.
Lisa De. Ricco, Stanley’s wife, manages the facility.
