MECHANICSVILLE, Md. – On Thursday, October 22, 2020, at approximately 12:28 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to Thompson Corner Road in the area of Dawn Acres Lane for a single motor vehicle accident involving utility pole with electrical wires down in the roadway.
Crews arrived on the scene to find a single truck off the roadway and one utility pole cut in half.
Power outages reported in the area. Over 900 residence were affected for about a hour. 63 residence were affected for 3 hours.
Road was shut down for a short period of time. SMECO remained on the scene to replace the utility pole, along with utility lines being attached to the new pole.
