On Monday October 10th, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office report that Senior Deputy First Class Kevin Somerville was patrolling in the area of Hollywood, when he observed a vehicle cross over the edge line and the yellow median line. SDFC Somerville conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Michael James Spears 22 years of age from California, Md. SDFC Somerville detected an odor of alcohol emitting from the Suspect. Suspect Spears was administered standardized field sobriety tests which he failed.
Suspect Spears was arrested, transported to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Driving Under the Influence.
Suspect Spears is currently awaiting a Preliminary Inquiry Hearing.
