
MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Two people were airlifted to a trauma center Monday, May 4, 2026, after a single-vehicle crash sent a car into a ravine in Mechanicsville following a reported medical emergency.
The crash was reported around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Colton Point Road and Point Lookout Road, where crews responded to a motor vehicle collision involving entrapment.
Two patients were evaluated by EMS at the scene, both requiring air transport due to the severity of the incident.
Emergency responders reported the incident involved a female patient who suffered a seizure prior to the crash.
Fire and rescue crews freed the trapped occupant within about 20 minutes of the initial dispatch.
A landing zone was established at Chopticon High School in Morganza, where a Maryland State Police aviation unit responded. Trooper 7 airlifted both patients to an area trauma center.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
