Port Republic, MD – On Saturday, Feb. 28 at approximately 8:30 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched for a single vehicle accident off the roadway on Chippingwood Drive, off Broomes Island Road in Port Republic.
Volunteers from St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department and an ambulance from Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad arrived on the scene to find a vehicle in the woods with one person still trapped inside. Another victim was apparently thrown from the vehicle when the car left the roadway.
As Squad 7 from St. Leonard handled the entrapment of the individual in the vehicle, the other person was treated by the ambulance crew.
After extracting the trapped individual, both patients were evaluated by medics and transported by Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George’s Shock Trauma.
