UPDATE 2:02 P.M.
Washington Gas has completed work on repairing the leaking gas main. The roads remain closed pending final inspection and cleanup of equipment. TBN will inform readers when the roads are reopened and it is safe to travel in the area.

UPDATE – 1:50 P.M.
Washington Gas is on the scene of the gas line break and working to repair the damaged caused by a construction crew earlier this morning. The road closures are still in effect and motorists are asked to avoid the area until the repairs have been completed.

UPDATE – 12:11 P.M.
Authourities report that an emergency call came in at approximately 11:08 a.m. when a construction crew reported that they had struck a gas main on Pegg Road. The construction crew notified Washington Gas immediately.
Washington Gas crews should be reporting to the scene in short order. More to follow as it becomes available.

TheBAYNET.com has learned that Pegg Road has been closed in the area of Liberty Street. All traffic is stopped in the area awaiting repair crews. More information to follow as it becomes available.
As of noon, on Wednesday, July 22, Pegg Road is closed from Midway to Liberty and parts of Midway are closed to all traffic as well. Emergency responders are on the scene awaiting Washington Gas’ arrival. Area residents are cautioned that this is a very large gas leak and to avoid the area at all costs.
