La Plata, MD — The U.S. Navy Band Commodores, the Navy’s premier jazz ensemble, will perform a free concert Friday, August 9 at on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall

The group has been performing big band jazz for over 40 years at public concerts, national concert tours, ceremonies honoring veterans, and in front of high-level military and government officials. They also conduct jazz education clinics and classes.

The 18-member group is led by Senior Chief Musician William C. Mulligan.

The  concert will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on the lawn at La Plata Town Hall at 305 Queen Anne Street.

Military concerts usually last 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes due to their regulations. Concert goers should bring lawn chairs or blankets for sitting. Coolers are allowed, but no alcohol is permitted.

Concessions will be available in the back of the parking lot as will a play area for children. Pets are not permitted on the lawn during the concert.

Concert goers are invited to support the Arnold House School Supply Drive and bring some supplies to donate concert. A donation box will be available.
