WALDORF, Md. — A 16-year-old boy was killed early Saturday morning in a devastating pedestrian crash along Maryland Route 5 near Mirkwood Lane in Waldorf, Maryland. The incident, which occurred just after midnight on June 28, 2025, prompted a large emergency response from both Maryland State Police and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a preliminary report from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack, the teen was reportedly in the median of the roadway when he suddenly entered the southbound travel lane and was struck by a 2020s model Lexus RX SUV.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Adijat Agbo-Ola of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was traveling south in lane one of Route 5 when the collision occurred. Police noted that the victim was not within a marked or implied crosswalk at the time.

Emergency medical teams performed life-saving measures at the scene, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on-site. The Maryland State Police CRASH Team has taken over the investigation due to the severity of the incident.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased juvenile pending family notifications.

    Really? Did they also note that there is no ‘crosswalk’ within one mile of where the accident occurred?
