St. Maryโs County is currently under a WINTER STORM WARNING from 2 p.m. today through 1 a.m. Friday, January 18. Three to six inches of snowfall is possible across the county beginning late this afternoon and into the evening.
After careful consideration of the timing and predicted snowfall totals, St. Maryโs County Government is instituting a liberal leave policy for all county employees for Friday, January 18.
All St. Maryโs County Schools will dismiss students two hours early today. Schools will be closed for students tomorrow, January 18 however teachers and staff are expected to report as usual. Further communications about weather-related closings for staff for Friday, January 18, 2013, will be communicated through the normal channels of communication on Friday morning.
St. Maryโs County Recreation and Parks is reporting the following weather related closings and changes:
- Due to inclement weather the Nicolet Skate Park is closed
- All outdoor activities on outdoor athletic fields are canceled
- All activities, programs and sports leagues in the public schools have been canceled for this evening
- School Age Center students must be picked up from the appropriate center within one hour of school closing
- All Adaptive Aquatics and Belly Dance classes are canceled this evening
A decision regarding all other programs held in Recreation and Parks facilities will be made by mid-afternoon.
The College of Southern Maryland has rescheduled its 14th Winter Commencement to Jan. 18. The ceremony was to have been held on its LaPlata campus.
