Annapolis, MD — Young volunteers were honored for service to their communities at a ceremony featuring Lt. Governor Boyd K. Rutherford as a speaker.

The inaugural Youth Service Awards recognized ten individuals and three groups for their significant community service in Maryland.

The winners were selected through a competitive review process by a panel of distinguished community leaders and state representatives in charge of volunteer programs across

Maryland. Families and mentors of the selected youth were also invited to celebrate their contribution to communities at the Tuesday ceremony hosted by the Governorโ€™s Office on Service and Volunteerism.
