LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – A 10-year-old boy was arrested and charged Sunday, May 13 for setting fire to a Lexington Park home’s detached shed. Around 11:35 a.m., units from the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 21000 block of Old Missouri Street, Lexington Park for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival crews discovered a fire in a detached shed on the property and quickly extinguished it. The overall damage from the fire is estimated to be $400. 

Investigation revealed that the juvenile set fire to a pile of clothes which was contained to the interior of the shed.The juvenile was charged with setting the fire and released back to the custody of his mother. Prior to this incident, on May 12, 2018, the same juvenile attempted to set fire to an exterior utility closet. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded.  However, the juvenile fled the scene prior to their arrival.
