Leonardtown and Great Mills High Schools will be holding 11 Laps to Remember on their schoolย tracks as a recognition of the seventh anniversary of September 11, 2001.
You may register for the event from 5 to 6 p.m. the day of the event or pick up a registration form in advance at Leonardtown High School or Great Mills High School. There is a fee of $5 per person. Registering as a family of four or more is $20. All proceeds will be donated to local fire and rescue squads and additional donations are gladly accepted. Any business donating $100 or more may place their banner on the track fence during festivities.
The schools ask that you demonstrate your American pride by wearing Patriotic dress or colors.
Activities will include an opening ceremony, the ROTC color guard, playing of the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and a memorial wall for signing. The center two lanes of the track will be reserved for runners and the outer lanes for walkers.
