WALDORF, Md. — Three people were injured Saturday night in a serious two-vehicle crash in Waldorf that prompted an extrication response and a Maryland State Police helicopter.

Firefighters and EMS personnel were dispatched at approximately 10:52 p.m. Aug. 8, 2026, to the area of Smallwood Drive West and O’Donnell Place for a reported motor vehicle collision.

Initial information indicated two vehicles were involved and one person was believed to be trapped. Firefighters performed a door pop to gain access to a patient.

Emergency crews evaulated three patients at the scene.

A 19-year-old man suffered a serious open fracture to his right leg, and a tourniquet was applied by emergency personnel.

Because of the severity of his injuries, Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 was requested. The man was flown to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment at a trauma center.

Two women, ages 25 and 27, were also injured in the crash. Both were transported by ambulance to UM Charles Regional Medical Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
