MSP TROOPER 7 at Medstar St. Mary's Hospital

RIDGE, Md. — A 6-year-old girl was seriously injured Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025, after a lawn mower accident in southern St. Mary’s County.

Crews were dispatched around 5:54 p.m. to the 13000 block of Point Lookout Road, where they arrived to find the child suffering from a traumatic foot amputation.

Firefighters quickly established a landing zone at nearby St. Michael’s School, allowing Maryland State Police Trooper 7 to respond for medevac. The child was airlifted to the trauma center at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury.

Authorities have not said how the incident occurred, and it remains under investigation.

    1. It could’ve been an honest accident where the child ran into the yard and the operator didn’t hear or see her. It’s sad anyway.
