Charles County Sheriff’s officers are investigating the murder of Joseph Gilford Hickman, 71, of Waldorf which occurred Oct. 3 at a residence in the 3300 block of Ryon Court in Waldorf.
Hickman did not live at this residence. Investigation revealed two males approached the residence from a nearby wooded area while Hickman was standing on the door step and engaged in a brief conversation.
The suspects then fired multiple rounds from a handgun and fled the scene.
The suspects are described as black males wearing white sleeveless T-shirts. One suspect was wearing a dark-colored ski mask and at least one was armed.
The investigation is continuing but detectives do not believe this was random.
