LEONARDTOWN, Md. – Today, we’re celebrating our April SPIRIT Award winners, Sheneka and Mary! These associates were nominated by their coworkers for going above and beyond their duties.
Sheneka (pictured left), a certified nurse assistant at MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute, is known for her positive demeanor and teamwork. As just one example, she is known for proactively going to patients’ vehicles when she anticipates they will need help getting inside for their appointments. Coworkers share what an asset she is, and how much patients love her! One individual recently wrote that her “welcoming, caring” attitude made all the difference, and her kindness during hard moments will always be appreciated.
Mary (pictured right), Environmental Services (EVS), was recently praised by a patient for her outstanding work sanitizing his room during the time he was on her unit. The patient asked that a manager stop by so he could personally convey his thanks! Mary made sure his room was not only cleaned well, but spent time chatting with him and brightening his day. She continually exhibits our SPIRIT values and is a top-notch colleague.
