HUNTINGTOWN, Md. — A Huntingtown woman has been charged with multiple animal cruelty and neglect offenses following an investigation that uncovered what authorities described as unsafe and unsanitary conditions for several animals at a Calvert County property.
Court records show Brianna Nicole Duty, 23, is facing 10 animal-related charges, including multiple counts of animal cruelty, animal abuse, failure to provide adequate care, and violations involving animal shelter and enclosure requirements.
According to charging documents, the investigation began on Dec. 4, 2025, when an animal control officer responded to a report of an aggressive dog at large in the Hunting Creek Road area. During the investigation, the officer discovered additional animals on the property, including dogs, hogs, goats, chickens, ducks and horses.
Investigators documented conditions involving a male pig that allegedly lacked adequate shelter, clean water and proper containment. The charging statement alleges the pig was confined in an enclosure made of wooden pallets with sharp objects and debris, and that water bowls were empty or contained excess debris. Authorities also reported observing excessive waste buildup and restricted movement due to the condition of the enclosure.
Court records further allege that the pig appeared underweight and was housed in conditions detrimental to its health and general welfare. Additional charges stem from allegations that proper shelter, space, bedding and clean enclosures were not provided for multiple animals.
Animal control officers later attempted follow-up contact on Dec. 18, 2025, and documented additional concerns related to animal care and compliance. A criminal summons was issued on Dec. 22, 2025.
Duty was charged under multiple provisions of Maryland criminal law and Calvert County code, including misdemeanor counts of failure to provide proper animal care. A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2026, in Calvert County District Court.

This is a long time coming, this girl is a literal POS trash and has no business with any animals. Hope she finally gets held accountable because the residents are sick of nonstop DUI’s, domestic issues, filthy property, nonstop abuse of animals AND abusing the legal system and ongoing court involvement. She makes excuses for everything and she offers nothing to society and never will. Family continues to support her through all this and this says a lot of why she continues to do what she does -it is learned behavior. The best thing that can happen is for her to spend some time in jail and think about her actions and then leave the county.
