LA PLATA, Md. — Soccer fans will have a chance to cheer on Team USA against Paraguay on Friday as The Rad House hosts a World Cup Team USA Celebration and Watch Party featuring drink specials, giveaways and family-friendly activities.
The event is scheduled from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday at The Rad House, located at 82 Drury Drive in La Plata. According to the event listing, attendees can expect World Cup-themed giveaways, soccer games, cornhole and drink specials throughout the day.
The celebration is being promoted as an all-ages event as Team USA opens its World Cup schedule. Organizers said special promotions will be offered by Michelob Ultra, Stella Artois and NÜTRL, along with exclusive World Cup giveaways available only during the event.
To accommodate the watch party, the Charles County Board of License Commissioners approved a temporary expansion of The Rad House’s licensed premises during its June 11 meeting. The approval allows the business to utilize a designated outdoor area adjacent to the restaurant for the event.
During the hearing, the owners said the outdoor event area will be fenced and monitored, with identification checks at the entrance. Adults purchasing alcohol will receive wristbands, while minors will be identified to prevent underage drinking.
The temporary expansion request was approved unanimously by the board.
Team USA is scheduled to face Paraguay at 9 p.m. Eastern in its opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving local soccer fans an opportunity to gather and watch the highly anticipated matchup together.
The World Cup Team USA Celebration and Watch Party begins at 3 p.m. Friday at The Rad House, 82 Drury Drive in La Plata. The event is open to the public.
