Officers responded around 7:18 p.m. on June 8, 2026, to Berry Road and Festival Way in Waldorf for a reported breathing status issue.

Charging documents state officers arrived to find a white Lexus stopped at a green light. Sharpe, the vehicle’s sole occupant, was allegedly unconscious and slumped in the driver’s seat while the vehicle was in drive.

Officers attempted to get Sharpe’s attention by banging on windows, yelling and activating agency vehicle sirens. They later used an agency-issued lockout kit to get inside the vehicle.

Sharpe regained consciousness after officers and emergency medical personnel shook and tapped him several times, according to charging documents.

An officer reported observing a bottle of Don Julio on the front passenger-side floorboard in plain view. Sharpe allegedly told officers he had been at a bar a couple of hours earlier and had consumed two shots of Don Julio before the traffic stop.

Charging documents state an officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Sharpe and observed signs of impairment during field sobriety testing.

Sharpe was arrested for DUI and transported to the Charles County Detention Center.

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered a loaded Glock 43x 9mm handgun from the glove box, according to charging documents. Officers also found a second loaded magazine inside a bag on the front passenger seat.

Sharpe told officers he had a Maryland Handgun Qualification License but did not have a Maryland handgun permit, according to charging documents.

A chemical breath test later showed a result of .088 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath, according to court documents.
