
SOLOMONS, Md. — A 5-year-old boy was airlifted to Children’s National Hospital on Wednesday evening after he was reportedly bitten by a copperhead snake in Calvert County.
Emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 7:25 p.m. on July 1, 2026, to Patriot Urgent Care-Solomons on H.G. Trueman Road for a reported snakebite.
The child was bitten on his left hand by a copperhead snake. The boy was conscious, breathing and responding normally when the call was reported.
The child was bitten in the front yard of a residence before being taken to the urgent care facility. The location of the snake was not known.
A medevac helicopter was requested, and Maryland State Police Aviation Trooper 7 responded. Trooper 7 airlifted the boy to Children’s National Hospital for treatment.
Additional details on the child’s condition were not immediately available.
