SOUTHERN MARYLAND — One of the best parts of Independence Day celebrations are the fireworks displays. This year is especially exciting as it aligns with the nation’s 250th anniversary celebrations, and many towns and counties are going big on their fireworks.

In Southern Maryland, there are plenty of fireworks events to help Marylanders celebrate the Fourth of July and the country’s milestone in every location. From festivals to ball games to boats, here’s our list of the best places to see fireworks through the July 4 holiday weekend.

Fireworks In Calvert County

The Town of Chesapeake Beach

Join the Town of Chesapeake Beach on July 3 at 5:30 p.m. for its annual festival and fireworks display. Attendees can expect live music and entertainment, food trucks and sweet treats, family-friendly activities and open green space, and a spectacular fireworks finale over the Bay. Fireworks are launched from a barge in the Bay, with viewing throughout the town.

Calvert County Fairgrounds

Head over to the Calvert County Fairgrounds on July 3 for the Star-Spangled Spectacular. An unforgettable Independence Day celebration filled with fun, food and festivities for the whole family. The event begins at 4 p.m., and officials recommend bringing lawn chairs and blankets to watch the fireworks.

Solomons Island

This year’s Solomons Island Fourth of July Celebration is “bigger and better” than ever to celebrate the 250th. Join the celebrations from 4 to 10 p.m. on July 4, and then enjoy the fireworks display, which will be conducted from a barge in the water. The best viewing will be from the Solomons Island boardwalk.

Fireworks In Charles County

Regency Furniture Stadium

Head over to A Fun-Filled 4th at Regency Furniture Stadium on July 4 for a family-friendly celebration packed with entertainment, activities, food vendors, community organizations and patriotic fun for all ages. The event will start at 4 p.m. with fireworks around 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, but admission to the Blue Crabs game is not included.

Charles County Fairgrounds

Fireworks Spectacular at the Charles County Fairgrounds by The Charles County Fair Board will be presenting an outstanding Fourth of July fireworks demonstration (brought to you by Innovative Pyrotechnic Concepts LLC) at the Charles County Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 4. Gates open at 3 p.m., with food, a kids games area, pony rides and live music starting at 4:30 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m.

Town of Indian Head

The town of Indian Head is hosting a Fourth of July celebration at Village Green Park, including activities, food vendors and much more. The event is free but includes paid tickets for activities, or a $5 all-day wristband option. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. with fireworks to follow.

Fireworks In St. Mary’s County

St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds

St. Mary’s Freedom Fest is an Independence Day celebration that kicks off July 3 at 5 p.m. Music, entertainment, food, craft vendors, kids’ activities and a grand fireworks display at dark. This is a free admission event.

Dennis Point Marina and Campground

Join Dennis Point Marina & Campground in celebrating 250 years of American independence. This historic event will be its largest display to date and includes food, music, games and a fireworks spectacular. Dennis Point is also raising funds for the Second District Fire & Rescue Squad in Valley Lee. TJ and Heather of 97.7 The Bay will be broadcasting live from this event. Admission is $20 per vehicle, and the event is from 5 to 10 p.m.
