UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — A piece of Maryland motorsports history is up for sale, nearly six decades after the last races were run at Marlboro Motor Raceway.

The former raceway site near The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro has been listed for $15 million, opening a new chapter for a long-dormant property once known for sports car racing, dirt oval racing and regional motorsports events.

The 42.14-acre parcel at 6000 Maude Savoy Brown Road is being marketed as commercial land. The former racetrack is positioned along Crain Highway. The property also sits near the Prince George’s Equestrian Center and an established shopping center anchored by Giant Food.

Marlboro Motor Raceway opened in the 1950s and became one of Maryland’s notable mid-century racing venues. The site included multiple racing configurations over the years, including an early dirt oval, a paved oval and road course layouts used for sports car racing.

The track was associated with Sports Car Club of America events and hosted regional and national racing during its active years before closing after the 1969 racing season.

The listing states the land includes approximately 1,835,618 square feet and notes that public water and electricity are available. It is listed with RE/MAX Allegiance, with Sebrin Adem named as the contact broker.

The listing includes multiple zoning references, and any future use would require Prince George’s County approvals.

The asking price is $15 million, or approximately $355,956 per acre.

For longtime racing fans, the listing puts one of Maryland’s forgotten motorsports landmarks back in the spotlight. For developers, it offers a rare large-acreage site tied to a unique piece of Prince George’s County history.
