WALDORF, Md. — Long before one of his latest videos jokingly compared The BayNet to “the TMZ of Southern Maryland,” Twon had already built a loyal following by finding humor in the moments Southern Maryland residents know all too well.
By day, he delivers HVAC equipment as a truck driver. He’s also a father, an assistant youth basketball coach and someone who has spent his entire life in Southern Maryland.
By night — or whenever inspiration strikes — he becomes the creator behind his popular Facebook and Instagram pages, where his relatable comedy has attracted thousands of followers and millions of views across social media. From local restaurants and neighborhood quirks to life in Waldorf, Lexington Park and beyond, Twon has built an audience by turning familiar experiences into laugh-out-loud moments.
His videos aren’t built around celebrities or elaborate productions. Instead, they’re rooted in something much closer to home: the businesses, personalities and situations that Southern Maryland residents encounter every day.
His latest BayNet parody is just one example. The video has drawn nearly 100,000 views on Instagram and more than 85,000 views on Facebook, with countless locals sharing, commenting and laughing at his tongue-in-cheek comparison of The BayNet to “the TMZ of Southern Maryland.”
A Life Rooted In Southern Maryland
Twon, who was born and raised in Charles County, says nearly every part of his life has been shaped by the community.
“I was born and raised in the area. Been here my entire life, so I pretty much know Charles County and Southern Maryland like the back of my hand for the most part,” he said in an interview with The BayNet. “Everything in my life is pretty much Charles County and Southern Maryland.”
Away from social media, life is refreshingly ordinary.
“I work full time. I drive trucks for a living. I deliver HVAC equipment… I am a father,” he said. “It’s pretty much it, a pretty normal life.”
Recently, he also added assistant youth basketball coach to the list after volunteering to help coach his cousin’s team.
Comedy Everyone Can Relate To
For Twon, the funniest jokes aren’t made up; they’re discovered.
Whether it’s an unusual encounter at a local restaurant, a memorable neighborhood personality or something residents have all quietly noticed, his goal is simple: make people laugh because they’ve lived it, too.
“I try to focus on being relatable,” he said.
“The best comedy… is comedy that, you know, the things that people think to themselves, but don’t necessarily say. And then when it’s said, you kind of realize like, ‘Wait, I’m not the only one that thinks this.'”
That shared experience is what drives his content.
“It starts to feel like, okay, we’re all living the same life.”
His Southern Maryland videos have become what he jokingly calls his “bread and butter.”
“If I’ve had an experience here, nine times out of 10, a lot of other people have had similar experiences.”
Those videos often spark hundreds of comments from viewers who immediately recognize the businesses, people or situations he’s describing.
From Social Media To Stand-Up
Although many people know him through short-form videos, Twon has also been expanding into stand-up comedy.
He performed his first set in 2020 and has since appeared at comedy events throughout Southern Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia.
Most opportunities came naturally.
“I’ve just done several events… here in the Waldorf area, a couple out in D.C. and Northern Virginia,” he said. “It’s always somebody reaching out saying, ‘Hey, we think you’re really charismatic. Could you come host this event?'”

Open mic nights remain on his to-do list.
“People tell me I need to… and it’s definitely something that is in the works.”
When The BayNet Became the Punchline

The BayNet parody had actually been years in the making.
“I’ve even told people well before I thought about doing the video,” he said. “It’s like a running joke for me to tell my friends.”
As someone recognized around Southern Maryland because of his videos, he jokes that getting arrested isn’t even an option.
“I would hate to get in trouble out here,” he laughed. “I just know that my face is going to be all over social media. The BayNet is going to be on it.”
The skit’s biggest laugh came from one wildly exaggerated line that many viewers couldn’t stop quoting.
“I was stealing and before I could even finish committing the crime, the article was already out on Facebook,” he joked.
The line struck a chord with viewers.
“I’ve had a few strangers stop me… and they’ve been quoting that line,” Twon said. “People told me, ‘You hit the nail on the head with that one.'”
While the video playfully pokes fun at The BayNet’s reputation for breaking local news quickly, Twon said he wasn’t surprised by the outlet’s reach.
“I always assumed that it was a big thing,” he said. “Seeing that kind of solidified that.”
Why Southern Maryland Works So Well
Twon says Southern Maryland’s mix of people and personalities gives him endless material.
“I just think Southern Maryland has become so diverse over the years,” he said. “You just get a little bit of everything in Southern Maryland.”
That diversity, combined with shared experiences, is what makes his comedy click.
Shared experiences, he said, are what make his comedy resonate.
And when it comes to BayNet stories?
“I can’t wait to get to the comments because the comments also make the story that much more hilarious.”
“Don’t Do It”
If you’ve watched Twon’s videos, you’ve probably heard his signature sign-off: “Don’t do it.”
The phrase has become an unofficial catchphrase, with fans often yelling it when they recognize him around town.
“I’ve noticed that a lot of people in the community, when they stop me, sometimes they just shout those words out to get my attention,” he said.
Looking Ahead
After building a loyal following in Southern Maryland, Twon is ready to expand.
“I feel like I’ve gotten the results in my own community,” he said. “So now it’s really about just taking the next step… What can I touch on to get people in New York to know who I am? Or L.A.?”
He also has several stand-up comedy appearances in the works.
More Than Just Laughs
While comedy is his passion, Twon hopes his influence goes beyond making people laugh.
“Our greatest strength is each other,” he said. “If we look after our neighbors… then I think the sky is the limit for what’s all here in this community.”
And if The BayNet ever does write a headline about him? He’s already got one in mind.
“Local content creator Twon arrested for streaking at the Blue Crabs stadium,” he laughed “I would love to see those comments.”
Fortunately, that headline remains fictional — for now.
Until then, Twon plans to keep doing what he does best: making Southern Maryland laugh.
