WALDORF, Md. — Two people were seriously injured Saturday night in a two-vehicle crash at Berry Road and Greenwood Drive in Waldorf.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 10:40 p.m. Aug. 1, 2026, after callers reported one vehicle had entered a ditch and another had traveled into the woods.
One vehicle was found on its side near the intersection, while a second was located on its roof in the woods. A traffic signal control box was also knocked down, leaving the intersection’s lights out.
Firefighters initially received reports of occupants trapped in both vehicles. One person was extricated, while another was able to get out before crews completed a second rescue operation.
Emergency personnel reported that one patient suffered hip injuries and had a reduced level of consciousness. Another sustained fractures to the femur and pelvis.
Two Maryland State Police Aviation Command helicopters responded because of the patients’ injuries.
Trooper 2 transported a man believed to be in his 30s to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Trooper 7 arrived as Trooper 2 was departing and flew the second patient to UM Capital Region Medical Center.
The Maryland State Highway Administration was contacted to address the damaged traffic signal and debris at the intersection.
The crash remains under investigation.
