July 17: Meet the Reptiles
11 a.m. at Nature Center

Reptiles make up one of the interesting groups of animals found in the park. This will be a multimedia presentation to allow you to learn more about these varied animals.

July 18: Nature Journaling
11 a.m. at Nature Center

Making and keeping a nature journal or notebook is a fun way for kids (and adults) of all ages to study nature. We will make our own simple nature journals and practice using them together.

July 19: Patuxent River Canidae
1 p.m. at Nature Center

Learn about the habitat and lives of foxes and coyotes.

July 20: Nature Scavenger Hunt
1 p.m. at Nature Center

What’s out there in the park? Use self-guided scavenger hunt sheets to discover an amazing variety of natural items. Three difficulty levels are available.

July 21: Crafts with Nature
11 a.m. at Nature Center

Make something to take home using items gathered in the park, like twigs and pinecones.

July 25: Let’s Talk Turtles
11 a.m. at Nature Center

We’ll talk about the largest and smallest turtles found in Maryland and the threats they face. Compare the life cycle of a land and a sea turtle, then explore different challenges turtles face through hands-on activities.

July 26: Native People along the Patuxent River
1 p.m. at the Nature Center

A multimedia introduction to the native peoples of the western shore of Maryland at the time of the first European settlements.

July 27: Meet the Reptiles

July 28: Stream Study
2 p.m. at Nature Center

What’s in the water? We will look for aquatic creatures and do some simple water quality tests in the Patuxent River. Closed-toe shoes or sturdy sandals that can get wet are recommended (no flip-flops); event cancelled in case of high water.

Our Nature Center will usually be open 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday-Sunday.
