North Beach, MD โย Two fires that occurred Saturday evening and Sunday morning, April 8 and 9, in Calvert County displaced occupants of both dwellings, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, a blaze at the Chesapeake Manor Apartments on Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach was reported around 6:45 p.m. Forty-six firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm fire and brought the flames under control in 15 minutes. The fire originated in one of the 20 units.

โThe cause of the fire was an electrical event in the ceiling of the living room,โ a deputy fire marshalโs report stated. โSome of the tenants were displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.โ
No injuries were reported. Damage to the building is estimated at $1,000.
On Sunday morning, shortly before 5 a.m., a fire at a two-story, single-family home on Lake Ridge Drive in Sunderland was reported. Forty firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 15 minutes. The fire, which originated in the game room, remains under investigation.
โThe family was displaced as a result of the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross and other family members,โ a deputy fire marshalโs report stated. The homeowner is identified in the deputy fire marshalโs report as Sharon Beavers. Damage to the house is estimated at $250,000.

North Beach, MD – Calvert County fire and rescue crews have responded to two fires in the North Beach area during the April 8 – 9 weekend. Saturday afternoon a blaze caused heavy damage to a multi-family structure on Chesapeake Avenue. Officials from the American Red Cross reported Sunday, April 9 that they have responded along with the Southern Maryland Disaster Program manager to the scene.ย Responders conducted client intake for those clients in need of assistance. The American Red Cross provided casework for the clientsโ onsite and follow up casework will be provided at the regional level starting Monday.
Early this morning crews responded to another fire in a residential area of North Beach, according to the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department, which posted the above picture.
No reports from the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office have been released at this time.
