The rain didnโ€™t stop over 400 of Natala Lowery closest relatives and friends from attending her services on the morning of Saturday April 22.

Lowery, 25, passed away in the morning of April 17 in a car accident at Route 4 and Sixes Road. She was driving a vehicle owned by the private ambulance service she worked for.

She was a member of Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and has been taking courses in firefighting and EMT since she joined the department 6 months ago.

There was standing room only in Rausch Funeral Home in Owings and the line continued out the building into Mount Harmony Lane, reports Huntingtown VFD Assistant Chief Jonathan Riffe.

Approximately 35-40 of Huntingtown’s Volunteers staffed every single piece of equipment (E-61, E-62, S-6, T-6, B-6, A-68, A-69, CM-6, U-6, and C-6) to honor the life of Natala. Additionally, every department in Calvert County was represented by showing up at the services, and Chaplain Bowen played the bagpipes.

The services began at 10 a.m. and lasted until approximately 1 p.m. Afterwards, Natala was placed in the cab of Engine 61 for her final ride back to Huntingtown VFD.

With the department flag flying half-staff, the procession entered Huntingtown and they made their way under the ladder arches of Prince Frederick Tower 2 and Hollywood Truck 7.

At the station, a reception was held sponsored by the Huntingtown Ladies Auxiliary.

Natala will truly be missed but never forgotten.

Many thanks to the Huntingtown Volunteers, our mutual aid brothers and sisters, the Ladies Auxiliary, member C. Gadway and the Red Knights, Kentland President 33 (Mann), the fill-in companies from Caroline County (Denton and Greensboro) Queen Anne County (Grasonville), Company 2 member M. Bowen (bagpipes), Tower 2, Hollywood Tiller 7, etc.

The outpouring of help and assistance from everybody is greatly appreciated. It only shows the true brotherhood and 2nd family that is represented within the fireservice.
