MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Firefighters battled a residential structure fire Thursday evening in Mechanicsville, according to emergency communications.
The fire was reported at approximately 5:31 p.m. on April 16, 2026, at a single-family home in the 40500 block of Medleys Lane.
Initial reports indicated smoke coming from the roofline, with crews arriving to find a one-story home with fire showing through the roof. All occupants were accounted for and safely out of the home.
Firefighters located active fire conditions on the right side of the home and quickly stretched hose lines to begin suppression efforts. Command advised no personnel were to operate on the roof due to safety concerns, including reports of a hole in the floor at the rear of the home.
Approximately 77 fire personnel from multiple departments responded to the scene. A primary water supply was established from the Fowlers Industrial area to support firefighting operations.
Officials later reported the bulk of the fire had been knocked down, with crews remaining on scene conducting extensive overhaul.
No injuries were immediately reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
