The Calvert County Fairโ€™s 24th annual Youth Day Friday, Sept. 28 attracted huge numbers of school-age children and their families. Long lines at carnival rides and food kiosks were stretched throughout the grounds, which are locatedย off Route 231. Thanks to an army of volunteers, vehicle drivers found parking easy with shuttle buses transporting those who wanted to save their feet and legs for the trek around the fairgrounds.

In addition to 4-H and agricultural-related activities and displays, plenty of young local talent was also showcasedย at one of the groundsโ€™ newer facilities, the covered pavilion. The bill included the Calvert School of Dance, the Julie Rogers Studio of Dance and Diane Herbert Dance Studio. Youngsters who have learned defense skills from the Black Belt Academy of Martial Arts also wowed the sizable audience.

The Calvert County Fair will officially close Sunday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m.
