
Valley Lee, MD – State authorities reported an estimated loss of $35,000 as a result of a shed fire in St. Mary’s County, Wednesday afternoon, June 29.
According the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze occurred around 1:20 p.m. on Blake Creek Road in Valley Lee. The fire was discovered by a neighbor. No injuries were reported.
“The fire was determined to have been the result of an unattended propane torch igniting combustible materials inside the shed,” a fire marshal’s report stated. “The shed and all its contents were destroyed.”
The 20-by-20-foot wood-framed shed was owned by Robert Holden Sr.
Eighteen firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in 10 minutes.
