Robert E. Hall
Lexington Park, MD— On August 19, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Corcoran responded to Franklin Road in Lexington Park in reference to a possible assault taking place.ย
When Corcoran arrived on the scene contact was made with the victim who advised that the defendant, identified as Robert E. Hall, 54 of Lexington Park, “was trying to run him over with a Ford truck,” according to charging documents.ย
The victim and Hall have an ongoing dispute involving the victim previously dating Hall’s current wife and as the victim walked onto Franklinย Road, Hall tried to run him over, pinning him against a telephone pole.ย
Hall then got out ofย his truck and tried to punch the victim in the face but the punch was blocked by the victim’sย left hand, causingย a cut on his (victim) palm from a screw between the attacker’s knuckles.ย
Hall then pushedย the victim to the ground and they began to wrestle. A witness near the scene was able to break theย two apart.ย
Hall then retrievedย a baseball bat from his vehicleย and chased the victim, swinging the bat at him in an effort to further assault him. Hall then fled the scene and could not be located .ย
Corcoran observed the victimย to have injuries on his left hand and knees and the damage to his glasses and clothing. Hall called the police several hours later and claimed, “that the victimย was the person who started the altercationย but could not explain why he did not immediately call police afterย allegedly being assaulted,” according to charging documents.ย
Hall has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and maliciousย destruction of property.ย
Hall at this time does not have a scheduledย court appearance. Hallย faces a maximum jail sentence of 40 years and 2 months and/or a maximum fine of $8,000.ย
