Anthony C. Davis

California, MD— On Dec.25, the St.Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to an assaultย involvingย multiple individuals. When Deputy C. Ball arrived on the scene, he spoke with a witness who called 911.ย 

Ball then made contact with Anthony C. Davis, 35, of California, who stated, “he had been hanging out at the residence all night. He went to the garage to smoke a cigarette when a group of individualsย showed up,” according to charging documents.ย 

Ball also spoke to the victims who got into a verbal altercation with Davis. The victims advised they were hanging out at ABC Liquors before coming to the house party. Both victims attempted to leave the garage, however, “one of the victims was tackled from behind, but he was unable to identify who tackled him,” according to charging documents.ย 

A witness at the house party advised that the verbal altercation was over, ‘an ex-girlfriend’ that the victim and Davis had in common,” according to charging documents.ย 

Both Davis and the victim attempted to drop the issue and shake hands until “Davis punched one of the victims, starting a physical altercation. As a result, the victim was knocked unconscious by Davis,” according to charging documents.ย 

Ball made contact with one of the victims at MedStar St.Mary’s. The deputy noticed the victim’s face was, “swollen to the point his left eye was not visible along with bruising,” according to charging documents.ย 

Davis was charged with two counts of assault second-degree and was transported to St.Mary’s Countyย Detention Center. Davis has a court date scheduled for April 28 at the St.Mary’s County District Court. Davis faces a maximum jail sentence of twenty years and or a maximum fine of $5,000.ย
