PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A North Beach man is facing criminal charges after authorities alleged he inappropriately touched a health care worker without consent while receiving treatment at CalvertHealth Medical Center in Prince Frederick, according to Calvert County court records.
Court records show Matthew Paul Herrick, 40, of North Beach, was charged with a fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault following an incident reported at CalvertHealth Medical Center on June 10, 2026.
According to the statement of charges, deputies interviewed a nurse who reported that Herrick allegedly grabbed her breast and made what investigators described as a suggestive facial expression. Court records state the nurse told deputies she immediately felt uncomfortable and left the room after the alleged incident.
The nurse advised investigators that the physical contact was unwanted and made her feel violated, according to charging documents.
Deputies subsequently interviewed Herrick, who was still receiving treatment at the hospital. Court records state investigators observed signs of intoxication and reported that Herrick was slurring his speech. According to the charging documents, Herrick acknowledged touching the nurse but claimed he had only pinched her on the side of her torso. Investigators reported that Herrick admitted he should not have touched the nurse and understood that the contact was unwanted.
According to court records, Herrick was charged with one count of fourth-degree sex offense involving sexual contact without consent and one count of second-degree assault. Both charges are classified as misdemeanors under Maryland law.
A summons was issued on June 11, 2026.
A preliminary inquiry hearing has been scheduled for July 27, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
