The Patuxent Wine Trail in coordination with the Maryland Wineries Association, Calvert County Department of Economic Development and St.Maryโ€™s County Division Tourism–is proud to announce their first wine trail event: The Patuxent Wine Trail Goes Local.ย  Wineries along the Patuxent Wine Trail will host a local product vendor from 12 โ€“ 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24 at each of the wineries.

The list of local products and vendors is as follows:

Cove Point Wineryย ย will host: David Wardrupโ€”The Happy Turner, fashioning antique pepper mills, cheese platters, nutcrackers and wine bottle stoppers

Fridays Creek Winery will host:
Heavenly Chicken Catering, menu to include local produce items.
Local entertainer Joe Norris
Tons of pumpkins, sweet potatoes, turnips Local artists Local beef

Perigeaux Wineryย will host: Ch’Naca Fiberworks, Bag-O-Beads, Wild Willow Soaps

Port of Leonardtownย Winery will host:
Saturday: Cafe des Artistes
Sunday: Thompsonโ€™s Corner Cafรฉ

Running Hare Vineyardย ย will host:
Saturday: Heavenly Chicken & Ribs / Rustic River Restaurant

Pax River Alpacas – Live Alpacas and yarn

Slack Wineryย will host: Ruddy Duck Brewery, Blue Wind Gourmet, Just in Time Antiques.

While there is no charge for this event, wineries may charge for tastings according to their normal tasting fees. Some wineries (indicated in product description) are offering special tastings of reserve wines or barrel tastings.

There are currently 42 licensed wineries in Maryland.ย  These wineries sold about 1.4 million bottles of wine in 2009, and annual sales in fiscal โ€™09 are estimated at over $15 million.
