PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. Calvert Nature Society received a Community Service Award from the John Hanson Chapter NSDAR on May 17, 2026. The Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award is a noncompetitive award, which recognizes an individual or organization who contributes to the community in an outstanding manner.

“It is an honor to recognize Calvert Nature Society with a Community Service Award.” said Kris Strauss, Regent of the John Hanson Chapter NSDAR. “Calvert Nature Society has made positive impact in so many ways to the Calvert County Community.

Calvert Nature Society, a 501(c)3 organization, is committed to protecting Calvert County’s natural heritage and promoting environmental awareness and literacy within the community. Society offers numerous opportunities for people to appreciate and better understand the natural world. Through various outreach initiatives, it advances these goals in partnership with the Calvert County Natural Resources Division.

“We are thrilled to receive the DAR Community Service Award.” said Joyce Baki, President of Calvert Nature Society. “This award confirms that connecting our community to nature through programs and education has a holistic impact on everyone involved.”

Calvert Nature Society provides the expertise for many of the programs available from Calvert County Natural Resources Division. This symbiotic relationship allows Calvert Nature Society to expand its impact.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to preserve the memory and spirit of those who contributed to securing American independence.
