PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A 47-year-old woman with no fixed address is facing charges of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after she allegedly masturbated on a hydro-massage bed at a Planet Fitness, causing a disturbance and claiming she was just “singing” when confronted.

The incident occurred on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Planet Fitness located on North Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick. According to the statement of probable cause, Calvert County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of disorderly conduct after employees claimed a woman, identified as Heather Marie Gross, was masturbating on a hydro bed in the gym’s recovery room.

Employees told the responding deputy that they had asked Gross to leave the business multiple times, but she became argumentative and refused. When told she was being asked to leave for masturbating, Gross reportedly claimed she was singing. The commotion attracted the attention of other gym customers. She eventually left the premises after employees informed her they had called the police.

A witness at the scene provided a deputy with a video he had recorded of himself in the recovery room. The probable cause statement notes that in the background of the video, “there is audio, which appears to sound like a female having an orgasm.” Authorities noted there are no cameras in the recovery room itself, and no video exists of Gross masturbating.

The general manager of the Planet Fitness told law enforcement he wanted Gross trespassed from the location indefinitely. Deputies attempted to locate Gross at a previous address and by phone but were unsuccessful.

Gross has been charged via a criminal summons with indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. Under Maryland law, indecent exposure is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of up to three years in prison and a $1,000 fine. Disorderly conduct is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Court records show a preliminary inquiry is scheduled for Sept. 8, 2025.
