LEONARDTOWN, MD – Interim Superintendent of Schools, Mr. J. Scott Smith, announces the administrative appointment made by the Board of Education at its meeting of June 24, 2015.
Ms. Maureen Montgomery has been appointed as Deputy Superintendent for St. Mary’s County Public Schools. Ms. Montgomery joined St. Mary’s County Public Schools in 1990 as a teacher at Leonardtown Elementary School. She has taught special education and general education at both the elementary and middle school levels. Additionally, she has served as an Assistant Principal as well as Principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Ms. Montgomery earned her Master’s degree from Bowie State University and her Bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland, College Park.
Mr. Edmund Law, J.D., has been appointed General Counsel for St. Mary’s County Public Schools. Mr. Law has practiced law since 1989 in various capacities. Previously, he represented Montgomery County Public Schools for 11 years. He currently maintains his own firm in Frederick, Maryland. Mr. Law earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1989 and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Drew University.
These appointments become effective July 1, 2015.
