Leonardtown Scarecrow Stroll Returns This October; Registration Now Open

LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Downtown Leonardtown will once again transform into a festive outdoor gallery this fall as the Leonardtown Business Association invites businesses, organizations, families and community members to participate in the annual Scarecrow Stroll throughout October.

The monthlong tradition encourages participants to design and display original scarecrows that line the streets of Leonardtown, creating a walkable fall attraction for residents and visitors alike. From whimsical characters and seasonal scenes to locally inspired creations, each scarecrow adds a unique touch to the town’s historic downtown.

A Celebration Of Community Creativity

The Scarecrow Stroll has become one of Leonardtown’s signature autumn events, showcasing the imagination of local businesses, nonprofits, schools and families while encouraging visitors to explore downtown shops, restaurants and attractions.

Organizers describe the event as an opportunity for the entire community to come together through art and creativity.

“Our town will be bursting with creativity this October as amazing scarecrows pop up everywhere,” the Leonardtown Business Association states on its event page. “From whimsical designs to local legends, these quirky creations will transform our streets into a fun-filled outdoor gallery.”

Registration Now Open

Individuals and organizations interested in participating are encouraged to register their scarecrow in advance. The displays will remain on exhibit throughout October, giving thousands of visitors the opportunity to stroll through downtown and enjoy the seasonal decorations.

Whether participants are seasoned creators or trying their hand at scarecrow building for the first time, organizers encourage everyone to get involved.

“Join us this fall to explore these unique displays, and you can even create your own design,” organizers said. “Let’s celebrate the artistry that brings our community together.”
