GREAT MILLS, Md. — We are receiving reports of a fire in St. Mary’s Square involving debris outside.

At approximately 10:51 p.m. on July 27, first responders were dispatched to the 21600 block for a reported structure fire at the Habitat for Humanity location in St. Mary’s Square.

Upon arrival, crews discovered burning debris outside of the location. A preliminary report of the scene described the “debris” as couches that were outside the building. Additional reports indicate that the actual structure of the building was not impacted by the fire, but this has not been confirmed by authorities yet.

SMECO and the Maryland State Fire Marshal have both been notified of the fire and are expected to investigate the incident soon.

The fire was reported to be under control as of 11:10 p.m.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
