Lusby, MD –ย A Calvert County man is facing four years in jail and $30,000 in fines after being busted during a Feb. 19 traffic stop in Lusby. According to a case summary on file in District Court for Calvert County, the accusedโ€”identified as Marc Anthony Wise, 25 of Lusbyโ€”was a front-seat passenger in a Honda Civic that was observed turning onto Cove Point Road from H.G. Trueman Road.ย  Wise was not wearing his seat belt, prompting Dfc. Moran of the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office to stop the Honda near Cove Point Park.

โ€œWhile the vehicle was stopping I observed the front-seat passenger leaning to his right and reaching around his right side in the area of his hips,โ€ Moran stated.

The deputy identified the Hondaโ€™s driver as Amanda Faith Lankford, 27 of Lusby. โ€œA check with the Calvert County Control Center indicated Lankford had warning codes for narcotics and Wise was on supervised probation,โ€ Moran stated in court documents.

A subsequent K9 scan was positive, leading to a search of the Honda and both suspects. The searches yielded โ€œa straw containing white powder and a plastic container containing a suspected oxycodone hydrochloride pill,โ€ Moran stated. The deputy said Wise told him he (Wise) found the straw and pill in a nearby parking lot.
Wise was charged with controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Court records indicate he posted bond and was released. He has a District Court hearing tentatively scheduled for May 27at 1 p.m.

Lankford was issued a traffic citation and released at the scene.
