This year, Johnson made a significant return to music with the release of “21 Guns,” a heartfelt tribute to fallen servicemen and women that he debuted during the PBS National Memorial Day Concert. Reflecting on his military service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Johnson expressed pride in his time in the Marines, stating they provided him with purpose and stability. He emphasized the importance of honoring veterans not just on the day they die but from the moment they enlist.

In addition to his music, Johnson’s philanthropic efforts are noteworthy; he founded the Give It Away Foundation to support charitable causes and provide assistance to those in need.

Opening for Johnson was the talented duo Ryan & Rory, composed of Ryan Keith Follesé and Rory John Zak. Recognized as a “Highway Find” on Sirius XM’s country channel, The Highway, the duo has made a name for themselves with their self-titled debut EP, which includes the summer anthem “Pour Decisions.”

Ryan, who previously led the pop-rock band Hot Chelle Rae, shared his journey of returning to his country roots after the band’s success. Rory, a native of Raleigh, NC, has built a successful performing career, playing over 300 shows annually since 2017. Both artists are committed to their craft, understanding that being a great artist requires the ability to tell one’s own story through songwriting.
