Fatal Accident in Maryland

WEST RIVER, Md. — A Sunday morning crash in southern Anne Arundel County claimed the lives of an elderly Annapolis couple after their vehicle veered off Muddy Creek Road and struck a tree.

According to Anne Arundel County Police, officers and fire personnel were dispatched around 10:30 a.m. on October 19, 2025, to the intersection of Muddy Creek Road and Sudley Road in West River for reports of a serious single-vehicle collision.

Investigators said a 2007 Buick Lacrosse driven by 90-year-old Donald Allen was traveling southbound behind two other vehicles when it suddenly left the roadway, hitting a tree on the right shoulder. Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Anne Allen, also 90, was airlifted by Maryland State Police medevac to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she later died from her injuries, police said.

The department’s Traffic Safety Section assumed the investigation, which remains ongoing. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
