WASHINGTON — Travis Pastrana has jumped cars, flipped motorcycles, broken records and built a career around stunts most people would never attempt.
Now, the Annapolis native is preparing for a new backdrop: the White House.
Pastrana, the action sports icon and founder of Nitro Circus, is set to attempt a dirt bike backflip on the White House South Lawn on Saturday, June 13, as part of the UFC Freedom 250 weekend in Washington, D.C.
Nitro Circus announced that the idea began at Power Slap 20, when Pastrana made a direct pitch to UFC CEO Dana White.
“I want to backflip at the White House,” Pastrana told White.
White replied, “Let’s talk.”
The answer later came in a personal call from White to Pastrana: yes.
The planned stunt creates an unusual crossover between action sports, UFC and one of the most recognizable locations in the country. Nitro Circus described the combination of White, Pastrana and the White House as a rare moment bringing major attention to both action sports and combat sports.
The stunt is tied to the broader UFC White House celebration connected to America’s 250th anniversary. The main UFC Freedom 250 fight card is listed by UFC for Sunday, June 14, which is also President Donald Trump’s birthday.
For Pastrana, the White House jump would add another first to a career built on pushing the limits of freestyle motocross and live stunt performance. The Maryland native has become one of the most recognizable names in action sports through motocross, rally racing, NASCAR, Nitro Rallycross and Nitro Circus.
Few additional details have been released, including the exact time of the jump, final ramp setup or whether the attempt will be broadcast live.
For Maryland fans, the stunt carries a local angle on a national stage: one of the state’s most famous action sports figures attempting a history-making backflip in Washington, D.C., during a White House weekend built around UFC, America’s 250th anniversary and Trump’s birthday.
