PASADENA, Md. – Homicide detectives with the Anne Arundel County Police Department has arrested the boyfriend of a Pasadena woman on murder allegations.
On April 4, 2025, at approximately 6:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in Pasadena’s 1200 block of Lorene Court. Upon arrival, evidence of narcotics and a possible assault was observed.
The 911 call was reportedly placed by Mr. Scott Kirby, 33, who advised his girlfriend, Heather Elizabeth Beaver, appeared to be suffering from an overdose inside the residence. Beaver, 34, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives responded, assumed responsibility for the investigation, executed a search warrant, conducted interviews, and collected evidence.
An autopsy performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma, with the manner of death ruled a homicide. Toxicology testing revealed that Ms. Beaver’s death was not related to an overdose, police department officials said.
“Further investigation contradicted Scott Kirby’s explanation. Evidence gathered from the scene was consistent with a violent struggle and assault,” the department wrote in a press release. “Based on the totality of the evidence, investigators, working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, concluded that Scott Kirby assaulted Ms. Beaver, inflicting the fatal injuries.”
The statement said on April 22, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Mr. Kirby, who remains innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, for the murder of Ms. Beaver. On April 23, 2026, authorities arrested Mr. Kirby, charging him with Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and False Statement to an Officer.
Mr. Kirby was ordered to be held without bond pending trial during a hearing at the Annapolis District Court.
