Maryland State Fire Marshall’s are currently investigating a case of arson in Charles County.
Authorities received a 911 call on July 14 around 1:42 a.m., for the report of fire in a vehicle. Firefighters from Bryans Road VFD responded to an area across from 8430 Warren Drive in Pomfret.
Crews arrived on the scene to discover a fire was intentionally set in a 2001 Mazda passenger vehicle owned by Alicia Byrd by unknown suspect(s) after igniting the interior of the vehicle’s passenger compartment with an open flame.
No injuries were reported.
Damage estimate is ringing in at $10,000.
